My first wireless headphone was a Sony. It uses a single "AA" battery and operates on infrared technology. The problem with it is that you have to stay in a certain space and cannot be behind any walls or the transmission will cut-off. That is not a problem if you are just watching TV or not engaged in any activity where you have to move from one place to another. I still like it but it is broken now. My 4-year old son found it and decided to be the subject of his recent experiment.

I ended up shopping for a replacement. I was looking for anything around 30$ and decided to go a bit higher when I saw this model from Senheiser. Senheiser is a well respected name making headphones and earphones. My first impression when I opened the box was it is huge! I put it on and I thought I was wearing a football helmet. I felt claustrophobic wearing it. OK, I am somewhat exaggerating, but this headpiece is big. I put it on for 3 hours, it was not too bad until I walked around and people at the office noticed what I was wearing. Normally you want as minimum as you can to put around your head. This one was heavy too.

The sound quality is excellent. I guess they have to make the headphones big to create a sound chamber to produce that kind of audio quality. The headband bears the Senheiser name and it is also big and seems gaudy to me. Some people may like that but again some other people may not. The headphone operates in the 900 Mhz spectrum which means it can go through walls. You can walk around the house and you will not drop the connection. But I do have issues with interference. From time to time I get hizzes when I walk around the kitchen. Same thing happened when I wore it while doing the treadmill. With all the electronics in today's modern house, I supposed this is why you may encounter this kind of problems. I don't remember having that bad experience when I was using my old Infrared headphones.

The transmitter is also big - makes me wonder if they designed this in Texas :) . It feels very light and hollow inside that I am pretty sure they can design this much more compact that what it is. If you hold it in your hand, it is like carrying a cheap plastic pre-school toy construction block . You also can not hang the headphone on top of it because it does not have the wire hanger that is on the higher models. The picture shows you the headphone on top of the transmitter but it is actually floating there probably via photoshop. You get a bunch of adapters so you can use it on a 3.5mm plus and also for the bigger plug (the size of a regular microphone jack). The transmitter has an RCA red and white cables. Another annoying problem is the power plug is very difficult to put in the transmitter. You don't have enough room to wiggle your fingers to put the power plug. I had to scramble for a longnosed pliers just to insert it properly. Product was made in china.

I had never used wireless headphones before, but since we had put a TV in the bedroom, we needed a set for that TV so I could watch without waking up my wife. After much agonizing, I finally picked the Sennheiser Rs110. I am very pleased with the product. I watched 3 full DVD's on the batteries supplied, without any serious degradation of souund quality. I am currently testing them with rechargeable NiMH batteries. The 'phones are comfortable - so comfortable, in fact, that a couple of times I fogot I had them on when I went to turn out the lights and go to sleep! The sound quality is very good. I found that the slight background hiss can be eliminated by tweaking the tuning control. All in all, a very satisfactory purchase, and an excellent product.

Every night I listen to music or tv on my computer before I go to bed. The d*/n cord from my studio earphones was driving me crazy! I ordered these with mediocre expectations. These earphones are far better than mediocre. I have a component home system in the other room and when I get serious about some music, I'll use it. It has a really nice Kenwood amp and Bose front drivers (with a seperate EQ) if I had more money I would definitely be an audiophile. My point is that I have some taste in sound quality and I know what's good. These are very comfortable (they will fall off if you lean over, but you can wear them for hours... comfortably) and the sound is exceptional for this price. They aren't Bose, but they aren't 2 or 3 hundred dollars either. I can go all the way from one end of the house to the other and only get little hiccups of static... no big deal. I can go all the way to the mailbox and they still work (a little more static though.) Can't mow the grass with them... open air design, but if you like music, and not disturbing the family and don't like wires, this is what you're looking for. I'm very happy with them. Helpful hint* If want these things to perform at peak levels, turn your media player EQ OFF! I know, I didn't believe either, but it's true. I'm listening to "Under the Bridge" by the Chili Peppers on them right now. -Perfect-

"Buyer's Remorse - Poor Durability - $150 Wasted" 2009-12-15

This is my first experience with Bose premium sound products. I wasn't crazy about these headphones, here's why:

For the $150 area, I expected good sound, comfort and durability but I feel buyer's remorse now.

Although I was happy with the sound and the comfort, the lack of durability allowed me only a few weeks to enjoy this set.

After several weeks of light use, the headset wouldn't even stay on. Nothing appeared broken, but the metal adjustable slider would just slip out of the the headband on both sides. Also one of the earfoams fell out.

I have several other higher and lower priced sets (over the ear) and they have all lasted several years so far. I take great care with my sound equipment.

I put this set away for several months and recently had a discussion with two Bose fanatics. I showed them my unusable set of Bose headphones and they recommended that I just call Bose and they would look at them.

So I called Bose. They would not look at them even if there was a major defect in the manufacture. They did offer to sell me another set of the same for half off to make up for my troubles. The representative was nice enough but I'm a bit wary of throwing good money after bad. So far I'm $150 in the red on these.

Hi,I tried many headphones recently and found that the bose products and the beats by Dr.dre to be the better sounding ones. I am totally deaf in my left ear and wear a hearing aid in my right ear. So I needed a headphone to use with my hearing aid without all the feedback. I can also use the bose headphones without the hearing aid but to get that loud music experience I use them over my hearing aid. I chose the bose around the ear set for 125.00. That was alot for me but with my hearing it was a necessity. I would have loved to have bought the noise cancelling sets but right now 300 or more is too steep for me right now. I have read only good reviews about the sound quality,but the construction of the plastic headband has been complained about. I'm hopeing these will last me a long time,After what I read I will just try to be carefull handling them. I do recommend them just treat them with kid gloves.When you have hearing loss like me,good sound is a treat. Thanks Bose. Tim

I've gone through three pairs of these in the last two years. I am in love with the sound quality, and even though I know it's not the best I particularly love how the bass sounds. They're comfortable to wear and very isolating. With these headphones, you don't even need noise canceling. There is very little sound leak, unless you like to listen to music ridiculously loud. All in all, I was very impressed with these. They're without a doubt the best sounding headphones I've ever owned.

Now, the problem: The wires are thin and stringy, and do NOT last. On my first pair, the part of the wire that connected to the left cup came apart. I'm not an abuser of headphones, either. On the other two pairs, they wire at the base next to the adapter came apart. I went at them with a soldering iron, desperately trying to make them last as long as I could, but they'd always crap out on me again. The sound quality distorts over time, and the foam around the cups is cheap and wears out quickly.

They aren't worth the price for such bad quality. I'd suggest looking around for other pairs, Sony, Denon, and Sennheiser all have superior headphones for a similar price. I myself just ordered a pair of Denon AHD1001's, and here's hoping they last longer!

For a company like Bose to charge $140. for a pair of cheaply-made headphones like these takes some arrogance & presumptuousness, but then to not stand behind their faulty product when it fails is just contempt for their (sucker) customers and is nothing short of shamefull.

Yes, they were just out of warranty when I contacted Bose about them, but unless I paid quite a bit more money to them (I think it was $55 or $60) they were unwilling to do anything to correct the problem.

Thank goodness for Sams Club, where I'd purchased them: in frustration I took them back there and .... without a word they just refunded my purchase price. Wait a minute: yes, they DID have a few words for me: "I'm sorry for the inconvenience." What a difference in customer service, eh?

I must say the headphones, while they were still in one piece, performed reasonably well. I liked the deep bass and especially the comfort: there's not many headphones that are still comfortable after 3 hours of wearing them. And they even made the music from my iTouch sound pretty decent, which is almost a miracle.

But after my experience with Bose about this defective product, I swore never to consider their brand again: it's for posers, nothing more.

"Very good but not great" 2009-12-15

To be honest, my opinion may be skewed as these were replacements for some Klipsch earphones that I had lost. I didn't want to spend a lot so when I saw these Altec Lansings on sale and with decent reviews I got a pair. Based on a few weeks of use, I'm glad I made this purchase. The sound quality is pretty good. The sensitivity isn't the same as the replaced Klipschs (or even a previous set of Ultimate Ears, presumably on which this set is based) so I need to raise the volume to get the same sound output. They aren't as "transparent" as some of the higher end, multi-armature earphones, but they stack up well against the mid-range competition. In my opinion, if you're looking for heavy bass, these aren't the earphones for you. But for a pretty balanced sound, they do well. Also, while some have complained about the cloth cord, I find it durable as well as flexible. True, it may telegraph noise more than, say, a thin rubber chord, but I generally wear them without much movement so that's not a big problem for me.

These are a great set of headphones if you can get them to last. However, they are the most fragile headphones I have ever come across. Something in the plug/jack got loose in the two pairs I have owned in two months. Yes, I have had two pairs in two months and the plug/jack went bad on both so most of the time, there is sound only on one side. I thought that I may just have gotten one bad set but it appears there is a flaw in the design and/or they use cheap materials. Now, I have to find all of the stuff that came with them, repackage everything, and go down to the Post Office again and wait up to 4 weeks for a refund. Please take my advice and try a different set especially considering the limited amount of time that you can return the item to Amazon and then would have to get replacements via your warranty. Otherwise, good luck!

I've had these earphones for about 3 months now and I don't have any major complaints about them. I was a bit concerned about the sound interference the fabric covered cords produce that I keep reading about but it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. As long as you aren't moving constantly like working out at the gym the interference is not a major problem. I use them when walking to class and I have no issue with noise interference. The noise reduction is really good though and I can listen to music while studying in a busy room without getting disturbed. Sound quality is really great! so great that when you listen to lower quality songs or mp3s, you can really hear how low quality they are (static etc) but watching DVD movies or listening to high quality music, the earphones really stand out.

I'm new to the world of MP3's so I was very pleased with the general sound quality of my SANSA Fuzz. The mini- earphones that came with the "Fuzz" are pretty good but they don't stay in my ears very well, so after doing some checking and review reading I decided to try the Lansing Backbeat UHP326. I was initially disappointed when I plugged them in. I primarily listen to Classical Music and the Low frequencies seemed week and the Highs were somewhat shrill. I decided to just let them cycle through a Mahler Symphony for a day or so and that helped a lot. Then I did some fiddling with the "Custom Equalizer", boosting the Base and cutting back on the Highs and that did the trick. I'm now very pleased with them. The only criticism I have is that I would like a smaller size pair of ear tips. I suspect this may be a personal problem. Other than that I would definitely recommend them.

I tried a pair of somebody's Bose noise canceling headphones on a plane recently and decided I needed something like that for myself. But I didn't want the Bose for two reasons: expense ($300) and bulkiness - I like to travel light.

These Panasonic headphones are far better on both points. The noise reduction is noticeably less than the Bose, but still quite good, and the sound is very acceptable at the price. Unlike the Bose, I could hear e.g. the flight attendant asking me something, but the persistent engine/wind noise was still much reduced. I found I could listen to music or the movie at a pretty low volume, so that I didn't feel quite as battered/oppressed by either the airplane noise or the music.

The headphones become uncomfortable after a couple hours, but I found that I could take them out for about half an hour and then have another go. I travel transatlantic quite often - I'm sure I'll be using them a lot.

Make sure that you use the right size of rubber tip for your ear (the phones come with three different sizes). If you use one that doesn't completely seal the ear channel the noise reduction doesn't work.

I work for a freight railroad on trains and have owned other brands of noise-canceling headphones. These are the best yet, and less expensive by more than half than the other (Sony, Seinnhauser,). They do an excellent job of blocking the background noise while still allowing me to hear the other person on the locomotive engine with me. I like the volume control that comes with the phones. They are comfortable to wear. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I had high expectations for this product based on other glowing reviews. My goal was to find a smaller more portable replacement for my Bose Acoustic 2 headset. I don't like to carry much weight when I travel. I realized at the time it was a lofty goal. I can't say I was disappointed based on the price I paid but If you are accustomed to good noise cancellation this product will let you down. In fact it doesn't seem much different than my apple iphone earbuds.

I ordered a Skull candy NC headphones for $ 24.99 on black friday deal and instead got the Amp'd Mobile headphone with a note from the seller "vibecellullar" stating that - 'this headset is manufactured by Skullcandy for Amp'd Mobile' . I cannot understand how that can be cuz the same set of headphones (the Amp'ds ones) are being sold on amazon for $ 18. This is purely and simply put a case of "DEFRAUDING" innocent consumers who expect a quality product and are instead handed down some cheap product.

The fact that amazon is unaware of the bait and switch being done by this seller is surprising and i wish they could ban the seller or take some stringent action against them for such fraud. These kind of sellers reflect badly on the reputation of amazon and atleast i will think twice now before placing any orders here. A lot of people besides me, who ordered the same during black friday week thinking it to be a great deal , got duped and have been vocal about it. I have contacte the seller and then filed a claim on amazon's claim file segment. I hope for sth positive there. "Just fiddle with it!" 2009-12-04

When I first got these headphones, i was extremely disappointed with the lack of Bass. I was using the smallest size silicone inserts because it seemed like they were the only size that fit my ears. Eventually, I got fed up, and decided to fiddle with them for some time. I discovered two things:

1. If you are able to push the headphones INTO your ear canal, the insert you are using is too small! You will get the air-tight seal required for bass response, but the headphones are compressing the air on your ear drum at this point, which would make it a little harder for the drum to move freely and pick up the full range of the sound being produced in the headphones. They should be able to fill in the opening around your ear canal and create the seal. Too far in is not good, and results in poor sound.

2. You have to treat each ear individually when finding the right size, because both ears may not require the same size. I use the large insert in my left ear, and the medium insert in my right ear. So sit and fiddle with each ear separately. Once you achieve the prior principal in the first ear, then you can size the second. You may be the same size on both sides, or you can be a small and a large, a medium and a large, or a medium and a small. Try it with patience

Once these two issues are settled, the headphones are EXTREMELY enjoyable. I find that they stay in my ear a lot better than the previous version of in-ear headphones by apple. I don't have to fiddle with these much. When I do, it's mostly paranoia from the last pair of apple in-ear headphones I had. These stay just fine, and sound great now that i have discovered the proper size for my ears. They are a killer to rap into the case when I'm done with them, though. That takes forever. The last version was much easier to rap into the case.

Unfortunately, the ipod I have does not allow the use of the mic and volume buttons, so I cannot say that I have experienced any problems with it. But I wonder if these headphones can be used as like a headset on a computer (just curious)

I got these because I wanted a decent pair of headphones that also had the mic and remote for my iPhone. The sound quality is decent and quite clear, but if the volume is turned up to about half on the iPhone they just do not perform. The bass is nonexistent and with every drum hit comes a crackly sound like a speaker that is being overpowered. I do not listen to music very loud and they still just can't take bass. For the price these just aren't worth it; you're better off with some other brand if you need the remote and mic. Before these I had a pair of Sony in ear headphones that I got in Germany for 20 euros and have not been able to find a better pair yet. I will be switching back to those unless I'm taking a call as they don't have a mic.

I always wanted to buy dual driver IEMs. So when I saw Apple Dual Driver IEM ( ADDIEM ) for 28$ I could not resist.

I normally use ES 7, so I will compare to them.

The ADDIEMs quite similar to ES7. They have very good balance and clarity. I would say ADDIEMS have even more detail than ES7. The highs on ADDIEMs are smooth and detailed- you do not get tired when listen to them for long periods of time. The mids remind me ES7 - very emotional and impact-full. Probably that's the main advantage of ADDIEMS.

They are fun to listen!

BASS:

I have to say that people who are used to boomy products of Bose ,Sony , SkullCandy and others will find ADDIEMs not bassy. There reason is simple , ADDIEMs sound mature, they are perfectly balanced. They do not favor a particular frequency range - you hear everything.

The amazing thing about ADDIEMS is that they have dedicated low frequency armature, which means they are capable of producing serious lows. Indeed, when tuned EQ for more bass. They produced really high quality , not muddy, bass! Bass is extremely tight even tighter then on ES7.

Comfort is 5 stars. ADDIEMs are so small that they will fit even a mouse :)

Isolation is very good, when music is paused you can clearly hear your heartbeat.

For 28$ they are literally free... If you buy them for 28$ you should imagine that you got them for free :)

If they had Shure badge on them they would cost at least 200$.

Final words:

ADDIEMs are like a good actor, they will perform anything you want if EQed.

Compared to apple standard issued earphones, these are a great upgrade. I did a lot of research prior to getting these new earphones and got exactly what I expected, a pair of beautiful earphones that work great with the iphone and macbook pro, with not that great lower frequency response or base and that are acceptable in terms of comfort. I would be able to put up with all the shortcomings but the main issue is that they just don't fit me that well, they are still my main on-the-go pair but I am looking for something better.

I can not recommend this item to anyone.

The sound quality can be good to very good if you get a tight fit in your ear canal. But you can also hear any rubbing against the wires above the point where they break into a "v" -- referred to in other reviews as cable noise. Moreover, when reading other reviews to see if anyone else was experiencing cable noise, I noticed complaints about static shock. And sure enough, when walking home yesterday, I received at least 5-10 shocks, which I understand are more annoying than harmful.

Great Headphones for the price. The noise cancellation works great in an office environment. It completely cancels out any noise in an office environment. However, the noise cancellation sometimes fails with loud noises (like a train passing through or bad traffic).

The build quality is not great but for the price, its awesome. Also, comes with a AAA battery in the package which means you can start using noise cancellation as soon as you get your hands on the headphones. Its very comfortable around my ears and the chord connecting the headphones to your ipod is long enough to give me good freedom of movement and not too long to make me trip over it.

Overall, this is a great pair of headphones and for the price, a good buy.

Sony products rarely dissapoint me but these headphones are not very good. I will not get into comparing these versus higher end models on the same brand or its competitors but I simply do not think they perform good enough for what they are marketed for. I used them recently in trips NY to CA and NY to NC and the limited noise cancelling and low volume features are evident. These may end up in my 11 year-old's bedroom pretty soon.

Very Very comfortable leather pads. Produce a slight but tolerable warmth. Plastic frame is stiff and seemingly durable.

Produce a good quality bass and picks up low frequencies with clarity. If your're used to headphones with near deafening bass power then look at the Koss PortaPro or something comparable.

Extremely low sound leakage.

I don't really notice a difference between the powered noise cancellation and the cancellation engineered within the pads, however when its not powered it still blocks out a substantial amount of sound.

4/5 because i prefer headphones with ample bass production and in-cord volume control.

The headphone is comfortable and has good sound quality. But the range is not as good as advertised. My home is a quiet eletro-magnetic environment in 900 MHz band. The house is far away from city and even from neighbors. There is no electronic equipment operating in this band in my house, when the cordless phone is not used. Even so, I get only about 100 ft range (with two interior walls between) when I start to hear noise.

The "silence suppression" feature is supposed to reduce the annoying factor of noise. The idea is when sound level drops below some level (presumably it is silence period with only noise), the sound is completely cut off so the user won't hear noise in the silence period. But in practice, it doesn't work very well. When the signal is low, I can still hear it although the noise is there. But the headphone keeps cutting off so I cannot use it.

Apparently Sennheiser is having a lot of trouble with noise. Several reviews mention that fact, and they also go out of their way to deal with noise. I don't understand why they cannot make it better. I have a cordless phone working in the same band and in analogue mode. But it can cover the range without any problem.

On the positive side, this headphone is not interfered by my cordless phone, unlike my last one.

I'm always very thorough in my research of reviews from many sources. I've read about the "static", "sound quality", etc.. Let me put all of that to rest. This work great! I use it for the sole purpose of watching tv in bed wile my wife sleeps (and vice-versa) and trust me my wife is even more finicky when it comes to my "gadgets". My equipment consists of a Samsung LN52B630 52" 1080p LCD HDTV, AT&T Uverse DVR and WiFi Router b/g (2Wire). I can walk throughout my 3100 sq 2ty home and still get great reception. The headsets are a little heavy, but who cares when the ear piece is comfortable and you're engrossed in your show/movie. The charge lasts long. I've left it off the charger for three nights straight and no loss of energy. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to use them for use with a tv that wants to let their spouse sleep while the other watches tv. I haven't tried to use them on games or for music. Worth the purchase.

The sound quality on these headphones are as good as any I've owned. This is surprising as these are wireless whereas most of the phones I've owned in the past were wired. I listen to mostly folk, classical and R&R at low to medium volume. The sound is clear with the headphones reproducing sounds greater than the limits of my hearing (I'm 58.)

The wireless ability of these phones is wonderful. I have the base on my desk plugged into my computer. I actually use the headphones outside (about 100 feet away) while working in the yard. One of these days I'll actually see how far the signal carries. I spent, what to me is, a lot of money on these headphones as I ended up returning a few pair prior to this purchase. I'm glad I got these. (P.S. I've had these for about a year now.)

"Big dissapointment" 2009-12-12

I bought these on a whim when on Black Friday based on the positive reviews and the $60.00 price tag. People seemed to like them when they paid full price so I felt that I had to buy them when I could get them for 1/2 price. Based on the sound quality, flimsy stand and terrible charger (the stand itself) I think $60.00 should be the normal price at most.$100+ is way to much in my opinion.

The headphones have a persistent hissing sound that is very distracting as other point out plus I have to lay a book on top of the headphones to get them seated correctly in the charger. I've read other reviews that suggest the hiss is a minor price to pay for the great sound quality but I have to suggest otherwise. I have a 6 year old pair of Sony Infrared headphones that sound orders of magnitude better than these with an slight hiss which is tolerable. The his these produce is terrible. Poor build quality, sound quality and feel are very disappointing. I suggest passing on these unless you can get them for less than $60.00 but better yet, look for something else that sounds good :)

Of the hundreds of products I've purchased from Amazon, this is only the second or third I've felt compelled to review and only because my experience is so different than others.

I have been eyeing these for over a year. I took the plunge on black Friday when the price was about sixty bucks including shipping. I would never pay more than that for these. 155...seriously? Not nearly worth it.

Cons:

1) The ever-present hiss can be really annoying. Even if you have the volume turned way up on whatever is feeding your receiver, sit two feet away with nothing else around, it's still there.

2) The sound is just so-so. Not nearly what I expected...practically no bass at all

3) Not as comfortable as I expected either. Minimally adjustable, still makes the edges of the ears sore with extended use and is it asking too much to have a slight angle at the top? These are shaped for a frankenstein head!

4) Cheap plastic for the most part. If the base is not mounted, it's easy to have it go flying off the table if the cord gets accidentally pulled.

5) Distance claims are a joke. I can barely get 20 feet without losing some signal.

Pros:

1) Cheap price for a great brand, if you get it 'em on sale

2) Very user friendly...just plug and listen

3) Rechargeable AAA batteries and long life when fully charged

4) Extra accessories included to use with 3.5 mm headphone jacks, RCA jacks, etc

5) Easy controls right on the headphones

Overall...disappointing and over-hyped IMHO! sixty bucks is a fair price, one-fifty...outrageous! At that price, save up a little more and go for digital or bluetooth.

I paid $60 for these. Personally I think all the wireless headphone companies have fixed their prices. These things are just a stereo fm transmitter and a fm receiver. Add a charging cradle. They should not cost $150!

I think this brand is like that womens coach bags with C's written all over it to justify the $300 price tag.

My original RS120 broke because the band holding the 2 sides together is just a piece of plastic with no metal re-inforcement inside. For $150 I would expect that.

For Gods sake someone make a wireless headphone system where the receiver is just a box where you can plug in any headphone. Is this too much to ask?

I would never ever buy this headphone for more than seventy bucks. Just not worth it.

I read the reviews here and find these headphones to be as close to perfect as my average budget will allow. Installation is simple (connect to a audio line out) and sound quality is excellent-the solid bass response was an unexpected bonus. There is a very slight hiss present when there is no audio signal, but it's very minor and not a problem. I live in a high-rise apartment building in NYC so RF interference can be a nightmare for some devices. This set of headphones works flawlessly, even in the far corners of my apartment. Highly recommended.

I bought the RS130 recently and I think it sounds great. But the range is notwhere closed to what it's box says, which is 100 meter *1/4 of a mile*. The moment I exited my room, it signal becomes weak. Also, I can't stand it when the signals aren't clear even if you hold the receiver right next to your head.

Now, the range maybe up to 100 meter for all I know. But when you place the receiver near things such as a wireless routers and computers and TV and whatnot, I'm sure there's gonna be interference.

I'll only suggest this if you are absolutely okay with constantly hearing the hissing sound. For me, I'm really bothered by it so I am either going to sell it on ebay or craigslist. Don't get me wrong tho, the sound it produces it way better than my $20 headphones. But I just can't stand hearing static while I'm listening to my mp3 or watching a movie.

I like the head phones fine with one major exception. They do not work on the television when I am playing a movie, but instead give me the underlying tv station, instead of the movie. There may be a way to get rid of the television program but I have yet to find it. This makes the head set useful only about half the time. They are also large, so it is impossible to lie down with them. Otherwise, I like them a lot. I would love to hear the solution to the tv vs. recorded movie issue.

1.the phones don't fit easily on the base to charge ..a bit tricky you have to move them around until you get the right position & the charging light turns on

2.you have to face the transmitter if you move your head to the side .. static takes over

Disclosure: I have tried all these on an airplane. I am not an audiophile. Noise Cancelation is the most important attribute to me.

The Carrying Case: All three are quite durable and stiff.

1.) Bose- the smallest, a low profile, room for an Ipod, accessories too.

2.) Sennheiser- Square shape, low profile, however not a lot of room for anything else in case.

3.) Audio Technica- Nice big case if you want to carry extra stuff (Nintendo DS, ipod, etc).

Build Quality:

1.) Sennheiser- you can tell this is built VERY well. Strong plastics, good components, thick cord. Top notch. You feel like you are getting something really high quality.

2.) Audio Technica- Nice solid construction, appears durable.

3.) Bose- If this had a Sanyo logo on the side, I would not have flinched. How can something $300 be so incredibly cheaply made.

Size:

1.) Bose- as far as over the ears go, these are pretty small.

2.) Audio-Technica- mid-sized.

3.) Sennheiser- These are big. No question, but they store flat.

Comfort:

1.) Sennheiser- Very comfortable, will fit almost any size ears. Keep on for hours.

2.) Bose- Also comfortable. I did not experience "highs" discomfort.

3.) Audio-Technica- Perfectly satisfactory. Larger opening than previous AT model.

Sound:

1.) Sennheiser- I actually wore these at home too, simply to hear parts of songs I had never heard before. Astounding. My 10yr old music collection sounded totally NEW.

2.) Audio-Technica- Well balanced, good sound.

3.) Bose- Great sound, but very heavy on the bass. I listen to a lot of rap and pop, so it was mildly annoying. I ultimately had to turn my treble settings up on my ipod to balance the sound.

Features:

1.) Sennheiser- nice cord, push to talk button (temporarily mutes NC and sound which is great for interruptions on airplanes).

2.) Bose/Audio Technica- just the basics. Bose simply an on/off switch.

Price:

1.) Audio Technica- $150 to $225 depending on how you shop.

2.) Sennheiser- $200 to $275

3.) Bose- Hard to find below $300+.

Noise Cancelation:

1.) Bose- No question here, far surpassed the other two. Best Noise Cancelation.

2.) Audio-Technica- Good Noise Cancelation.

3.) Sennheiser- Not sure what happened here. Incredible sound, satisfactory noise cancelation.

Summary:

I ultimately kept the Bose because I was only using these for flying and the Sennheiser's (as much as I loved them) let me down in the Noise Cancelation department. The Sennheiser's had by far the most superior sound, but the Bose Noise Cancelation was night and day. The Bose are made very poorly for a $300+ product, it was disappointing.

Final assessment:

Audio-Technica- best balance of value for money

Sennheiser- Best sound and comfort

Bose- Best Noise Cancelation

I got these because the office I work in is very noisy. It doesn't help with that at all, really. It seems to cut out lower frequency sounds pretty well (so I can see why these would be good to cut out engine noise on a plane, or general noise on a train, for example,) but they do nothing to help with the voices and other various "office" noises that I have to suffer through.

Also, there is another pretty big problem. You know that noise that you hear in your speakers if someone has a blackberry or similar mobile data device near your stereo? They do that. If anyone within (what seems like) about 50 feet has a smart phone that is sending or receiving data you can expect to hear a loud buzzing sound in your headphones until the phone has finished. That is a major flaw to me, but again, if you were on a plane, for example, there's probably not any data being sent or received over the air.

That's my 2-cents.

I recently took a trip to India and a friend recommended that I buy noise cancelling headphones to make the trip more pleasureable. What smart advice!

Based on reviews and Audio Technica's reputation I decided to give these a shot. The reviews were decent and the price was right.

The biggest piece of feedback I can provide is that they work! And work well. I like music, but I'm not an afficinado and did not have any bad sound experiences. Bass was nice, but not overwhelming. Mids and treble were about as good as it gets without a built in equalizer.

When you turn these things on, the roar of the jet engine all but disappears. Listening to music and onboard movies is now a pleasure. I have a smidgen of hearing loss and these headphones made that all go away.

Importantly, I had these headphones on my ears for almost 40 hours of flying time. I didn't experience any discomfort and occasionally had to take them off the scratch my ear. While they are slight bulky - my wife said I looked like an alien with them on - they were quite comfortable.

The small zippered pouch on the inside of the case was handy for carrying a couple of extra batteries and the cables. I used the AAA that came with the phones and never replaced it for the duration of the to and from flying. But I did bring along an extra AAA just in case. The phones do not work all that great when turned off so having the AAAs available I think is important. The case is a bit on the bulky side, but very nicely made. Durable sides keep the headphones from getting crushed inside cramped bags.

Overall, really, really happy. I honestly believe these phones made the long trip much more pleasurable and I felt more refreshed than expected. Listening to the constant roar of the engines takes its toll for sure.

You won't be disappointed.

The sound quality was great, including the bass, but the noise cancelling was terrible. With the noise cancelling turned on, you hear a disorientating swooshing sound, even if you try to "sync" it to the environment by turning it on and off. They were comfortable but it did not feel good to have them on for a long time.

I had actually ordered the original, not this "b" model, but Electronics Expo sent me these without a notification about it. They said that they did not have the older model. I am now going to order the previous version from Newegg because I know that they will send me the right ones.

Despite reading a bunch of negative reviews about sound leakage, I still bought these headphones assuming that either those reviewers had the volume too high, or, these were stray cases of manufacturing defect. After all, I thought to myself, how can a leading brand of headphones have such an obvious and blatant defect.

Was I wrong! Not only do these headphones have an extremely annoying sound leakage (that is, someone standing next to you can hear what you are listening to), the noise cancellation aspect of the headphones is not great either. With the sound volume at about 40% and the headphones completely covering my ears, my wife could easily hear the sound leak and so could I when she was trying these headphones on. Extremely annoying and there is no ways you can use these in a moderately quite environment.

Got an RMA and will be returning these today. Please save your money and don't buy this - you will be disappointed. For something that costs $130, we deserve a much higher quality than this piece of junk.

I bought these after reading the reviews. I had a pair of Sony's that were just not that good. I purchased these as I now travel internationally at least monthly. I used these on a trip to the UK and were so annoyed by the hum noise when I switched on the noise reduction I had to use in the off mode. Also, there is no volume control so everytime the PA came on your ears got blasted. Maybe only a certain population can hear the hum or maybe others have learned to accept it but I just couldn't deal with it. I stopped by the [...] store and tried the new QC 15 on for demo. This was like night and day. Yes, they cost 3X but [...] will charge your credit card interest free over either 6 months or 12 months and ship free. My order arrives tomorrow.

I got these based on overall positive reviews here and elsewhere. After only a couple of days use, however, I started noticing an intermittent issue in which the noise canceling would cut out, usually when I would just slightly bump the side of the headphones. Some connection was being broken on the slightest movement. So I sent them back.

Fast forward to when I finally got my new ones. Used them for a couple of days, no problems. I only used them at the office and never dropped them so that was not the issue. Then, suddenly, the same issue appeared in the new ones!! I couldn't believe it! These are $100 headphones!

This time I am sending them back for a refund. Might have to go with a Sony, their stuff tends to be bombproof.

I travel a lot for work, and just returend to the US from a trip to Spain and The Netherlands. Used them on the way over there for the first time and they worked great. I have what I would deem normal size ears, and only after wearing them for 3+ hours did I need to take them off for a few minutes to take some pressure off my ears. The noise cancelling worked really well, amazing how much of the engine drone you can lose by putting these on. I'd recommend for the money any day.

I bought these headphones because there was too much noise in my work place and I could't concentrate on mentally difficult tasks. They work very fine. I haven't tried other noise cancelling headphones but these are pretty good.

These headphones have an on-off switch which is a plus. When the switch is on, they decrease the outside noise, especially background noise. The quality of music gets better, too. They take one AAA battery inside the right ear headphone. They have good strong base, they are light and comfortable, foldable, come with a carrying case and with different plugs to use in an airplane. When you turn the switch on, you still can hear outside but with a lower intensity. You don't have to turn the music high at all, so it's much easier on the ears.

I am only worried about battery installation in the long run because you have to pull one of the ear pieces out and then put the battery in and the snap the piece back. I don't know how durable will this plastic snap be.

So far, the battery life has been impressive. I use this every day and the battery easily lasts over a week.

The price was good, it was $100 USD plus another $50 for shipping and customs etc. It is still cheaper than a similar headphone bought in Canada. Besides, I couldn't find this model in Canada yet.

This is a very good product. I'm very happy with it.

Remember noise canceling means "noise" and not people's voices. As advertised, it does reduce noises and would make your music sound much more clearer and a bit louder. A plus is that you can use the headset without using the noise canceling when the batteries die. I trust batteries more than rechargeable headset parts because once its out of power, you are gotta wish you had a spare battery to use it. I must warn you that these headsets are not for active moments. When there is significant motion with the noise canceling on, you get a pulsating sound. The pulsating sound can be fixed by turning off and on the noise canceling. So overall, if you are a true music lover, I suggest these headsets as a cheaper version of Bose.

I won't say these are better than 100$ because they're not i will say they're comfortable it feels like your not wearing headphones at all...i'll say the sound is challenged not great but good enough if your doing something basic with them...but definitely not for advanced listening...i gave it 5 stars because it is worth what you paid for and maybe a little bit of a bargain too...the ad says high definition and it's not really so...i will say you can hear a certain seperation that you can't hear normally but the bass isn't very good and the vocals seem layered in echo but you do get a good dynamic wide range on these things...so like i said it's for basic stuff like wearing them while you record or similar stuff like that but not the ultimate experience.

If you want to be a master...this is not your set! (ie, if you want to use this for mastering)

If you want to be an {EXPERT} this IS your set! (something different, not necessarily better)

A audio engineer. Clear sound is pristine, and stainless; bass should roll-off at the right frequency, thick mid-range, delicious treble...(Pioneer 3 EQ mixer is a decent example). Let me say this: if you are into bass, then do not purchase this set. This set does not have clearly defined tone, frequency response is what this set is all about.

As an accomplished Cellist, harmonics, similar to frequency response, is a ****{FUN}**** quirk! However you cannot play the entire score using harmonics. {It is {FUN} to play the entire song in harmonics! Play the entire song on {D} string; {4th position}, {thumb position} the whole 9 yards!}

To talk metaphorically:

Take an ice-sickle; it is clear, and accurately mirrors. The light reflecting, shinning *around* the ice-sickle is what is like this frequency response. These headphones are like the light reflecting around the ice, they do not offer clarity in sound quality.

Take a game of chess...one wants to know the proper openings, mid game, and endgame...one has to memorize "line set-list", tactic, strategy; however, when you play {Bobby Fisher} style, each move is refreshing! These headphones are like Bobby Fisher style chess, rarely used in a professional's toolkit, however when you see it: "O Wonder!"

Last Words:

This set of headphones is like any fx/filter/xyz hardwarebox/software plugin, you can imagine...its a ****FUN**** looking glass, not a crystal clear sound. Not much bass either...almost sounds "air-headed."

DO NOT get into a businessman's playing field and worry about the marketing...

I have never heard of the Berhringer brand until seeing its headphones in an Amazon Lightning Deal yesterday. In picture, the HPX2500 looked pretty good for a pair of twenty-something-dollar headphones. Seeing the actual product and using it for sometime, I deem it an excellent headphone for the money. I'll rate its quality at 8.5 out of 10. The headphone jack and cord use a lot heavier gauge materials then the competition. Berhringer is a maker of studio musical equipment. If you would like to know more about it, just Google it. There is a pretty informative article on it in Wikipedia. There is even YouTube videos about its huge factories in China.

You should be aware that because the HPX2500 is NOT a closed-type headphone, there is little to no sound isolation. In other words, if there is some sound in the environment, you will hear it. Conversely, others will be able to hear what you are listening, albeit at much reduced volume. This is called an open-type headphone. IMO, open-type headphones seem to offer better clarity. On the other hand, closed-type may offer more bass. What you listen to most should be the deciding factor in selecting open or closed headphone design.

So far these are some fantastic earbuds. the highs and lows are very distinct and the bass is impressive. You have to test out different sizes of earbuds, but once you find some that fit your ear canals well then you have some powerful noise-blocking buds. The bass can be overpowering in some songs, but mostly electronic stuff when you want the bass to be bumpin. I prefer them over my shure buds when listening to Justice or what have you. The cord is sturdy, although a little stiff. The type of plastic is a type of unpleasant smooth (not really a legit complaint). The cord seems strong and the plugs are very well reinforced. Because the cord comes in two (a short section that has the buds and the extension) it can be very long. I am about 6 foot and when standing the cord can touch to ground. This is a little bit too long for my tastes, but can be easily mended by wrapping it a couple times around my ipod. The junction between the cord and the extension is quite large, but it's large in the way that a tank is large. Large with purpose. I personally like the break-point because I do a lot of physical activity and most of my time with the buds is spent moving and there is usually a chance the cord can get caught on something. The break-point serves as a way to releive stress if it becomes too large and therefore saving the earphones from some precarious situations.

Overall I really love them and hope they last me a long time. Will buy another pair if they break.

Note: Haven't had the earbuds long enough to determine the durability. Although my last pair of sennheiser lasted about 4 months of very extensive use (everyday for several hours along with me carry them with me pretty much all day). Which isn't that bad. On the old pair the left bud stopped working, and soon after the right followed.

These earphones are a great upgrade from my previous skullcandy earphones. The packaging it came in was a bit annoying to open but that was the only hassle. The sound quality of the earphones is just amazing, especially for the price. The plug-in jack comes bent at an angle which I think is really convenient because if you put your mp3 player in deep pockets, the wire doesn't wear as much as earphones with a vertical plug-in jack. The earphones come with an extension wire. The main wire is just approximately a foot long. The extension will take care of the length problems. It comes with a small protective pouch, which seems a bit feminine, but it keeps the earphones safe. It also comes with a clip to clip on to your shirt which is really good because in crowded buses, earphones tend to fall out from your ears onto the ground, only to get smashed into pieces by someone having a bad day. This won't be happening with these earphones. The clip is very strong and latches onto your shirt. I have tested it in the aforementioned crowded bus. The noise cancellation on these earphones is also very amazing. You can hear very loud noises such as cars screeching their brakes or people yelling, but otherwise you'll have a hard time hearing anything but the music. Speaking of the music, this pair covers all the tones (highs, mediums, lows) amazingly well. There is no static buzz coming from them, when you connect them to big stereo systems or guitar amplifiers either. That was a big problem with my previous earphones. When you wear them, you won't even feel them because they fit your ear so comfortably. I haven't tried them out with any video games, but I guess that they'll do well while playing games too. If you try them out with your favorite songs, I bet you'll be hearing some new background sounds in the songs.

i love these earphones. the reproduce sound very very well and manage to do so with tons of bass. just like i like it. and i'm always dancing around or running or just freaking out, and these boogers manage to stay put.

however, the cord naturally winds itself back to its coiled position. which means that the listener must attach the clip to their shirt collar to prevent being choked by the cord. what's worse is that if you are on the go and have the earphones threaded through your shirt, but pull one or both from your ears, the coiling cord starts to have a tantrum and misbehave. also, the coiling cord will eventually and inevitably self destruct.

these will only last one year with heavy use. and sennheiser didn't replace mine like the guarantee said. so i've spent my own money twice on these (and i've also bought 3 other pair of the sennheiser twist to fit line). but i'll continue to do so until sennheiser either improves the durability of this product or somebody else makes an offering with superior sound & longevity.

don't blame me if the best option doesn't meet expectations.

What do you expect for a 20$ earphones? Not much.... So, I'm totally HAPPY with my purchase. Have had it for a month already and been using it in the gym every day (well, 5 days a week, actually) and while traveling (and I do travel a lot!). As expected, they stay put and no worry about having to dry them up and put them back in like other earphones. As for sound quality, they perform over my expectation! It sounds much better than 60$ noise canceling in-ear headphones that I used to have. So, what are you waiting for? Go get one for yourselves!

These earbuds stay put, even at the gym! Very comfortable, and good sound quality. However, outside sounds do leak in more than other earbuds I've used, so find myself cranking up the volume on planes/buses, but it's a small price to pay for earbuds that fit securely without making the insides of my ears feel plugged up. My only real complaint is that the cord tangles up really easily--I probably spend about 10 minutes each week untangling the knots.

I have fairly large ears, and with the right rubber pieces on the headphones they stay put. The "stay put" does mean that there's a bit of pressure on your ear so they did make my ears hurt a little bit, but it was worth it for the sound quality and not having headphones that constantly move around and have to be pressed back into ear.

I docked a point on durability because it would be very easy to lose the little rubber fittings. I've dropped them several times and had to go searching for them or found them in the mesh of my shorts. So far I've kept track of them though, and the sound quality is only slightly degraded after a year of use.

The music coming out of these headphones are not bad. However, whenever I plug the headphones into any headphone jack, I always hear feedback from the headphones, and there is always a low ringing in it. I may have gotten a faulty pair, but they're not bad overall.

$40 is a pretty good price for these. I bought the foam tips with the headphones and they work better than any of the ones which came with the headphones. I'm extremely afraid, however, to get earwax into the canals since they are so deep.

My one and ONLY complaint with these earphones are the way they fit over your ear. They are simply awkward. I just used them on 12,000 mile round-trip vacation and they sounded excellent (especially for the price here on Amazon...epic win!) The over ear design is not painful, the earphones actually fit quite nicely, and as most over the ear variety go, stay in place great...but the things are a bother to put on as you have to reshape them to your ear every time you wear them. They are, however, great for the gym because they don't move after you've got them situated. Are they worth the price here? Absolutely. Are they worth the retail price? Not in my opinion. If you're in the market for some over-the-ear mid-range and great sounding earphones, then there are for you!

as the title says, I was really impressed with the base of these headphones, but compared to the other 2 earbuds I have, these just don't perform unless you only care about big bass. The treble just isn't as crisp as similar brands.

I bought these to test low/mid level ear buds vs. higher end models based on a strong recommendation from a friend.

They're bass heavy, and that takes some getting used to. The product name is accurate! I knew that, and my music tends to be pretty bassy, so these are overkill in that respect. I had to use the EQ in iTunes (not good) to get them to sound right. The highs and mids are just OK.

They're actually pretty good if you just listen to MP3's of pop music. I generally listen to 320kb AAC's and AIF files and I cannot hear the difference between the formats like I can with my AKG 601's or my home and car stereos - no surprise thtere.

They're comfy enough and seem to be relatively well made. I gave them a medium rating because they're just OK. Nothing really special. If you listen to music as frequently as I do (several hours a day, every day, for years) then invest in something better. Going up to $75-100 seems like a lot of money until you've replaced your cheap ones a few times.

I'll be comparing them to some Etymotics pretty soon. This isn't a fair comparison, but who cares?

The exchangeable pieces doesn't stay in the ears as well as some of the other models and slips out occasionally while running. It is also somewhat fragile, as it died a little over a year after reasonable use and abuse. The low sound, however, is incredible.

I bought these earbuds for $15 with free shipping during a sale, and in the past have mostly used earbuds and over the ear headphones in the $10-$25 price range and have gone through several different brands and models.

They really do have a pretty good sound quality for earbuds, but you have some work to do before you can get the most out of them.

At first I had to mess around a lot with the different sized fittings and how I positioned them in my ears but I eventually found a way to wear them using the medium fittings that was both comfortable and provided an optimal seal. I could get a good seal with any of the sizes but the others were a bit uncomfortable.

The next thing I did was mess around with my equalizer settings. With all of my previous headphones it never really seemed to make a significant improvement overall when I did anything with equalizers but with these it really made a big deal. My sound card drivers have a lot of complicated settings and I also messed around with things besides the equalizer but if you don't have that option or just don't want to bother, you can just go into itunes/winamp/your mp3 player settings/whatever and play with the equalizers there.

Pros:

- Better sound quality than anything else I've tried.

- You can actually hear the bass frequencies.

- 3 different sized fittings for a customizable fit, they are very easy to swap but don't seem like they would ever fall off accidentally.

- Build quality seems good.

Cons:

- It is now more noticeable to me when I am listening to a low quality source or using lower quality headphones.

- You have to fit them snugly to form a seal.

- I had to tweak my audio driver settings on my laptop and the equalizer on my mp3 player to get the most out of them.

If you're an audiophile, you'll probably want to go with something nicer (and more expensive), but I'm just an average guy that wanted some nice earbuds at an affordable price for when I listen to music and play video games and that's exactly what I got.

I bought these headphones last year to complement my home studio. Just yesterday got around to listening to them and comparing them to my previous set and all I can say is AWESOME! I spent most of Saturday listening to my "new" mp3 collection. Oh the collection is comprised of the same old songs but thanks to the HPX2000, I'm hearing them unlike I've ever heard them before! I'm not kidding. The high and mid frequencies are crystal clear and dynamic range is impressive. The low frequencies, though while not overly 'thumpy', is very true to life. All of these qualities combine to make the HPX2000 a valuable asset in the audio production process.

I didn't know much about this company before my order but I'm glad I took the gamble. These are crystal clear and very comfortable. I wear them 6-7 hours a day while at work. Please note these are not closed ears so noises around you will be heard. This could be a plus or minus depending on your needs. I can't brag on these enough. Sony, JVC, etc. do not compare and neither do Bose. They are great if you work in an office by yourself and want to hear the phone or computer sounds. Highly recommend.

These are excellent and HUGE step up from the SONY MDR-V600! The sound isolation is good and the headphones bring new life into your existing music collection. You'll hear sounds you've never heard before.

I also have the Grado SR60, and those are very good open-ear phones. These are just as good in terms of sound quality. They are also a significant step up from my previous SONY MDR-V600 (which I didn't like and the foam deteriorated quickly).

I highly recommend it. As usual, Amazon delivery was quick and arrived before my trip.

I won't even say how great the sound quality is, the other reviews have covered that extensively. Bottom line is the sound quality is incredible. Much better than my portable Shure SE530 earphones. Compared to my friends Beats by Dre, these are just as "open" sounding regarding the soundstage. I would say the treble is much more crisp and refined, but not sharp. The bass is tighter and deeper, but overall less powerful. If you enjoy extremely high levels of bass, to the point where it muddies the other frequencies, either get a FAT amplifier and run full bass on the EQ, or buy different headphones...you don't deserve this amazing quality!

Comfort was the only thing worth noting here. The original earpads have gotten a bunch of criticism in the reviews.

When I received these headphones, I did a 10 hour burn in. When i first listened to them, they sounded average. I went online and downloaded files specifically designed for headphone break-in (white noise, pink noise, frequency range sweeps, etc.). Needless to say, after the break in the headphones rose to their true potential.

THOSE WHO DOUBT THE LEGITIMACY OF HEADPHONE BREAK-IN SHOULD READ UP! IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE IF YOU ENJOY ACCURATE SOUND REPRODUCTION.

The earpads were somewhat disappointing, they seemed like some really (too) soft foam wrapped in material with the consistency of a garbage bag but thinner. It was sad and seemed very prone to tearing. It was not uncomfortable for me however, after wearing them for 2 hours or so. No sweat, ache, etc.

Despite no complaints I still decided to purchase the aftermarket beyerdynamic earpads. And wow what a difference. Bass is deeper, sound isolation improved, makes the headphones feel lighter, and much more comfortable. The material that covers the foam is excellent. I wouldn't have expected less, these new earpads are German made, the same nation that is renowned for making excellent earplugs so you can sleep on airplanes!

They cost me less than 20 dollars, and considering how long you will keep these headphones (did i mention they sound great?) it would be a wise-investment to give your ears a lounge while they are absorbing the great sounds emitted from the drivers.

"Poor SNR, Poor Sound, Sweaty" 2009-12-03

-1 star for the poor signal-to-noise ratio. I plugged these guys into a couple laptops and I immediately heard a very noticable hissing noise. I still heard the hissing even after I started to play some music. I plugged in my old Sony street-style headphones and heard no hissing.

-1 star for the poor sound. It sounds like the engineers really went with a U-shape on the equalizer - the low-end and high-end frequencies are way too high. There's too much bass to the point that it's uncomfortable (and this is coming from someone who loves bass and subwoofers) and the high-end frequencies are so high the music sounds tinny. Again, I plugged in my old Sony street-style headphones and the music sounded normal again.

-1 star for the comfort. Maybe I'm not a fan of leatherette over-the-ear headphones in general, but these headphones made me ears sweaty within a few minutes.

+1 star for the design - it feels pretty solid and folds up nicely for transporting.

All in all, I can't believe these headphones have received so many glowing reviews - I think they stink.

I bought a pair of these to be my 'go anywhere' headphones, since my other headphones are much more expensive and stay at home (Sennheiser HD595s), and I had heard that these are built like a tank.

When I got these, that is the first thing I realized; They are built extremely well. It seems like they'd survive being thrown around in a bag or just generally used a lot. I personally know somebody who has had theirs for 10 years and they still work great!

I've heard that the coating on the ear cups flakes off (Read other reviews). Not a big deal, you can get replacements.

The sound quality on these is fantastic for all kinds of music. My other headphones (HD595s) sound slightly better if it is live music, piano music, jazz, etc. The V6s trounce the 595s when it comes to anything heavy at all (And I'm not talking super heavy here.)

The only thing I found bad about these is the fact that they are listed as circumaural (Meaning they go all the way around your ears, not just rest on them), but really, they are kind of in between supraaural (sit on your ears) and circumaural. They block out sound decently well.

If you need a great pair of headphones to take on the road or are just looking for a good pair of headphones that will last at home for probably an indefinite period of time, pick up a pair of these. The value is phenomenal!

"You get what you pay for" 2009-12-02

If you're looking for an extremely inexpensive set, these will do the trick.

I purchased these headphones because I keep loosing/misplacing my apple set that came with the iphone. I ordered a couple and figured I could loose a few and still come out on top vs. ordering a $30 apple set and loosing it in a week or so. The result...I have learned to take better care of my apple set and will not plan to purchase these in 'bulk' again.

Pluses:

-They produce sound! A little tinny, light bass but I have heard worse

Cons:

-not very comfortable, plastic molding was not fully polished around the bud

-too lightweight--frequently fell out of my ears

I purchased these headphones because they were the cheapest option with the highest rating. I have to say I am not disappointed, I mean if you are look for SotA headphones with magic noise canceling and comfort then no these are for you. The downsides would be comfort, if you have these babies in your ear for awhile they will really sting. If you are looking for some high quality lower end headphones while you are raising money for the behemoth badarse models this is way to go.

I have tiny tiny ears so i was a little worried after reading some of the reviews. It was needless. The earbuds are plastic but they're fine if you're not running, (i have other headphones for that) as for normal wear they serve the purpose. Sound quality isn't great, but again it serves the purpose, and nothing is really lost. Great buy for the cheap price.

I have been interested in Sennheiser headphones for a few years now, since Consumer Reports has rated this as a 'best buy' for a few years. Now that I've used my set for the past month, I have been very excited about the quality. For my commuter train (BART - San Francisco Bay Area), it's very loud at times, but I only need to turn the loudness halfway up my new iTouch and I can hear my favorite radio talk shows or music. It amazes me that it blocks outside noise so well. I would highly recommend this product, especially if you don't have an extra $300 - $400 around for the highest quality headsets.

I bought the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling headphones in December 2007 for my husband. We were going to be traveling a great deal and wanted headphones to use on airplanes. On Christmas morning I gave them to him and he gave me a Bose QuietComfort 2 acoustic noise cancelling pair! We both did research before selecting what each thought was the best noise canceling headphone factoring in many variables, portability, sound quality, comfort, noise canceling, etc. We ended up trading and here is why.

For me, the Sennheiser fits my head better and more comfortably. I can fall asleep, lying on them. My husband has a bigger head and the Bose are better for him. I like that I can turn my nose canceling on or off when needed so it is off in a quiet environment. The Bose noise cancelling is on all of the time. The buzz on the noise cancelling is louder on his than mine. I do not mind the battery unit on the cord. My husband has a more sensitive ear and claims that his Bose has a better sound. I like the smaller size and the fact mine fold; his comes in a larger, hard case that for me is too big for easy packing. I understand that the Sennheiser PXC 300 noise canceling headphones come in a case more like the Bose, and for this reason I am ordering another 250 to leave beside my bed while my first pair stays in my travel case. I use them in times of insomnia to listen to something or just on my head unplugged with the noise cancelling turned on to dampen my husband's loud snoring.

So you see, the best noise cancelling headphone depends on your own needs and your anatomy. If you can, try them on to see which feels best and sounds best to you. I highly recommend my Sennheiser PXC 250 pair.

These phones are great. If you're looking for noise cancelling headphones, give these a try. The sound quality is excellent, they do a great job of blocking out ambient noise, and i got them referbed for $50. The only negatives are that they do not do a great job of handling a lot of bass (Hip-Hoppers beware) and there is definetly a limit to how loud they get. Overall, a great purchase.

I will gladly admit that I am no where close to a sound professional of any sort, but I do know good sound when I hear it. These are fantastic.

The detail is wonderful, as is the range. They beautifully render everything from Alasdair Fraser's intricate violin, to Jim Brickman's smooth piano, to Bach's grand "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor", to the huge drums that accompany Mairead Nesbitt's "The Butterfly" (which, by the way, nothing else I have can really do), to several different types of vocals, to...well you get the point. These are monitoring headphones which means that the bass is not enhanced, but it is accurate. So if you like massive bass, you should probably adjust the EQ of whatever you are using, or pick a different pair. They do a good job at passive isolating (not active noise isolation, just to be clear) from external noise, so you had better sit close to the phone.

The construction seems solid, but time will tell for sure. I've worn them for about 6 hours a day for the last couple of days, and have found them quite comfortable. Lighter than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. They are warm, but not excessively so. If you wear eyeglasses, circumaural headphones like these might press on the ear pieces some which can get a bit bothering. The jack end of the cord is built like a tank, and even has a metal spring on the first inch or so coming out of the jack to further toughen it. The cord is, as the specs say, really long. Great if you are plugging into the back of a computer or moving around.

Overall analysis: great sound for the price (truth be told though, I haven't used anything more expensive), well built, and very comfortable. Now click "add to cart"!

Great pair of headphones, amazing sound quality, no leak and comfortable. The price is so low as well for them, i've listened to other Audio Technica headphones that cost more than these, and these have better sound quality. As for no sound leak, i cannot hear anyone outside of the headphones so if you want to listen to your music without distraction

I bought the ATH-M30 headphones about 8 months ago as a replacement for an old pair of Sony's. I don't use them for professional use, only for listening to music and watching movies and tv shows on my computer. For this use, they are absolutely perfect. They provide great sound quality, very little outside noise (not enough to bug you but enough to grab your attention if someone is calling you) and fit very snugly on the head. I highly recommend these headphones.

These are AMAZING headphones for the price. I have a set that's $70, $30, and $20, and this one blows all of them out of the water. The only problem has been mentioned before - they're uncomfortable if you wear them for a long time. It's really not that bad for how great they sound, though.
