"My nephew really liked them for the sound and the fit" 2009-12-07

I purchased a pair of these for my nephew in July 2009. They worked perfectly and my son really liked them for the sound and fit and I loved them for the price as he has lost a few pairs. A few days ago (12/09) the left ear bud stopped working. I went on Amazon to purchase another pair and noticed someone left a review stating they contacted JLab and received a replacement pair, albeiut in their case after a few month delay in the initial e-mail to customer service. I thought an e-mail was worth a try so I sent an e-mail on Sunday December 6, 2009. Less than 12 hours later I received a response "JLab stands behind its products 100%. I believe that your unit may simply be an isolated less than perfect unit, and therefore covered under our full one year warranty."

They asked for my Amazon order number and my mailing address and indicated a new pair would be sent out. While I do not have the new pair yet, the 12 hour response was amazing to me and demonstrates great customer service.

I am very impressed so far and will update thius once the new pair is received.

I bought these for one task only: to use on the machines at the gym. The in-ear design provides great noise isolation and gives decent bass response from such a small driver. I sweat on these things whenever they're used and they hold up well to my usage. I wouldn't recommend these for everyday listening if the quality of the music is important, but for the price, these make great commuter or exercise earbuds.

I had high hopes for these after reading so many positive reviews. Its true that the clarity is incredible and they are effective for blocking out most external noise while being reasonably comfortable. But the lows were virtually non-existent and they never opened up. They also proved to be inadequate for music on the go as there was considerable static when I walked and the cord rubbed against my clothes.

If you plan to use these at home ONLY and listen to classical music, then these are probably great for you. However, if you listen to any hip hop or reggae or any music with a lot of bass these don't cut it.

The final straw broke when they stopped working after six months due to a problem with the cord near the plug-in. Going back to my cheapie Sony's

These earbuds are great. Comfort may become an issue but it is easy to adapt. The sound quality is good as I could barely hear anyone or anything else. To truly appreciate the earbuds use them in a quite in environment that is were they truly shine. Though the best part of these earbuds must be the NO TANGLES. Seriously for the course of 2 months they have never tangled, and trust me I am one of those people who just shoves them in their pockets. Every earbud I have used has tangled because I just shove them anywhere whether its a pocket, bag or backpack but these just seem not to tangle. Overall good product.

These earphones are really comfortable. When I first got them and tried them on, I felt like they were going to fall out because I didn't feel the pressure against my ear canals. It feels like I didn't even have them on. Really good earphones. My only criticism would be that maybe it should have a tad more bass; other than that.. they're worth the money.

"Not what I expected" 2009-12-04

I realize the J2 earbuds are near the lower end of the JLab product line, but I decided to purchase after reading many good Amazon reviews for the J2. What I actually like most is the funky color I got - citrus orange. Other than that, they leave a lot to be desired and I'll explain why.

I've been listening to a music shuffle on my ipod containing all kinds of music for the past 3 hours after breaking the J2's out of their plastic sarcophagus. So far they have yet to come close meeting my expectations. And as I'm writing this review I'm continuing to log listening time on the J2's.

The overall sound quality after what is now approaching 4 hours of play is still is somewhat muddy or muffled. When I first plugged them into my ipod, it sounded as if I was listening through a layer of cotton. I figured they needed a break-in period and wasn't very surprised or disappointed. However, I expected a significant improvement at this point since they've been playing now for 3+ hours but the J2 has yet to hit that mark. Sorry to say, it's not even close.

Another area where the J2 also falls short for me is the thin cord. I wrap the cord over my ear from behind to help ensure a proper fit. The cord will just not stay on my ears! It is an annoyance for me because it is distracting having these wires moving around every time I move my head so I've given up on the over-ear approach. Also, the rubber(?) tips you insert in you ear are quite flimsy so the seal and comfort for me are both marginal at best. After about an hour, I changed the tip size but the change has not improved anything yet and I'm now at the 4+ hour mark (it's taking some time to get all my thoughts in this review).

I picked these up in order to have a second set of IE phones should anything happen to my primary IE phones, the Altec Lansing UHP326 Backbeat Series In Ear Headphone with Ultimate Ears technology. Prior to buying the J2s, I picked up the 326 and they've so far performed splendidly. I got them on Amazon for half their normal Amazon price so they ultimately cost me only $1 more than what I spent on the J2. The sound quality and comfort of the 326 is by far superior to the J2 (I had reviewed the 326 while the J2 was still sealed in plastic). For me there is a night and day difference between what were comparably priced products. The 326 for me is the superior product. Between the two, the 326 has a much cleaner sound and is the considerably more satisfying product.

The J2 in ear headphones are probably good for young kids or, for that matter, anyone who doesn't fully appreciate or need quality sound and wants a product above the cheapest low end earphones. As for me, I'll give the J2's to my 6 year old and look elsewhere for my 'new' spare pair.

I'll be brief. I'm a pretty huge fan of music, more than just about anyone I know so my expectations may be a bit higher than many. That being said, I bought these despite the reviewers who claimed the high end was muddy, not very clear and the bass was ok because so many other people reviewed it and gave it good ratings - and - the price was right at the time.

However, I should have listened to the more critical reviews because they were dead on. I let them burn in over the weekend and then tried them out for a while. While they fit well and I've had no problems with the quality the hardware, the high end sound is very poor. It is muddied and there's a very big difference between the very nice set I have at work and these earbuds that I use when I'm at the gym most nights. The bass is fair, but doesn't blow me out of the water.

If you care about sound quality at all, I'd stay away from these. (Ok, that ended up being not so brief, sorry.)

Overview:

These earbuds are very well constructed, and quite comfortable. They are definitely worth the meager price that I paid. The only issue I have had is that they don't seem to cut out as much noise as my previous earphones.

"J3 or J3M" 2009-11-30

Ordered this product (J3) thinking that I was getting the J3M as links for BOTH products went back to the same product purchase page. Really wanted the Microphone version. Contacted JLabs to confirm actually 2 different products. Seems that Amazon had incorrectly linked various of their products & this is one that still hasn't been corrected.

VERY misleading!!

Would have settled on purchasing the correct product direct from JLabs so that I could get it in the mail B4 the weekend, as I am leaving on a 2 week trip. However, because of their agreement w/ Amazon, they couldn't do that & not enough time to deal w/ Amazon. :( Was hoping for a little better from this company because of their reputation, especially since I was willing to PAY for it, but I guess the Big A has these contracts for a reason!

Product sounds good, but I haven't had time to really use it yet!! Will try 24 hour burnin. Build quality & case seem to be high.

I was very anxious to like these earbuds since I like to support smaller companies and these buds had received good reviews on Amazon. I have a pair of Etymoytic ER-6Is that I have had for the past 2 years and that have been excellent. I bought these because I wanted a pair of budget earphones with good quality that I could have on hand as a spare.

The earbuds themselves are quite sexy, and they fortunately have varying sizes of the covers because my ear canal is pretty small. Unfortunately, right out of the box, one side of the earbuds did not work. I am unsure which since JLabs does not label them. I realised this when I took them out to warm them up so I could start using them. I'm quite disappointed with this lack of quality control. I'm unsure whether I will purchase another pair from JLabs because of this.

My first impression of the J-Buds J3 Micro Atomic In-Ear Earphones was that they were surprisingly lightweight, almost delicate. The cord is thinner and has a different coating than one typically sees with most earphones. According to the manufacturer it is supposed to be better in regards to durability and in the week that I tested them, I found them to be quite resilient. They fit very snugly into my ear, which was impressive, as I've often had an issue with previous earphones falling out with the slightest snag. The manufacturer provides four sizes ear cushions rather than the customary three, which is very much appreciated. As was the case with pervious J-Bud models, these required some breaking in time. I let them play for a few hours on both an iPod and iPhone before making my analysis. The J3'sprovide excellent sound isolation; something I take seriously as I primarily use these while riding the subway in New York. Good sound isolation means you can listen to your music at a lower level rather than turning the volume up to compensate for outside sources. It's something I had really enjoyed with the J2 model and is further improved upon here. Those J2s were a comfortable, dramatically inexpensive improvement over the stock headphones provided with Apple's iPod; they had a great range of volume along with that impressive sound isolation but suffered at the high end. I think that JLab Audio attempted to react to that last criticism with this model, which is notably brighter. I can certainly hear items in recordings that I previously could not. It's a pretty crisp sound. Still, while perhaps arguable by another ear, I felt it wasn't a completely balanced a sound. It needs a tab bit more bass. Perhaps that is something that will be achieved with additional breaking in of the model. Still, even with that gripe, you have to applaud JLab Audio's J3's. They are simply a great value for the overall quality they offer at this price point. I found them to be better than the popular Bose In-Ear and just about comparable with the Sennheiser cx300 and Klipsch Image S4, all available at 2-3 times the J3's price.

I'm used to the Sennheiser CX300-B (around $20), and in comparison the JBuds' fit in the ear is very uncomfortable. Also, putting them side by side, the Sennheiser has better quality materials. For a few more bucks, get the good stuff!

I read reviews on almost every purchase I make! Unlike Consumer Reports magazine, I appreciate the (Objective) opinions 'real' consumers write. (Thank you, long time owners who write concise reviews)!

I highly recommend the JBUD J2 ear buds: I have, less than, perfect hearing. I bought a set 8 months ago and broke them in as recommended. They have met, or exceeded, my expectations in construction quality, sound insulation & quality, comfort & value. I'm impressed with the ability for me to enjoy laptop gaming, music, etc. while my wife enjoys her favorite TV programs, in the same room! The sound balance is awesome, not too much bass, or treble. The cord isn't so long that I get tangled-up with it. I hear what I want to hear, with minimal background (outside) noise. I selected the tips that best fit my ears and can wear them for hours without having ear pain.

I just ordered another set for my i-pod and felt compelled to write 'my own' objective review.

These buds fit snuggly in my ear, even as I'm running, and they stay there! The quality is excellent. I followed the advice of other reviews by playing hip hop music for 24 hours to break them in.

The only thing I'd knock it on is that they stick kinda far out from my ears. It looks sorta funny.

I bought these headphones almost a year ago and they have served me well. A very good upgrade from most stock headphone and are very comfortable which is important! I took them to my trip to europe and lots to time traveling means lots of time wearing headphones. These are not top of the line headphones but very good sound in my opinion. For the price, they cannot be beat. Keep in mind, these are earbuds, and for music on the go so I was never expecting it to produce phenomenal sound. I was very disappointed when one of the earbuds stopped producing sound. I was ready to buy another pair when I read all the positive reviews about their customer service. I usually don't like to deal with any customer service if I don't have to(really bad experiences!). But I sent them an email about the warranty and within a day or two, they shipped another brand new pair of earbuds and I didn't have to send back the defective pair. Also it comes with another 1 year warranty. It is definitely the best customer service experience I've had with any product. There's really no risk if you haven't bought a pair yet. It is well worth the investment. One note that I have is that these are not good for jogging for working out, they tend to fall out after a lot of jiggling and the sweat doesn't help either. So I wouldn't recommend them for the gym/running.
