I used to have a pair of similar headphones by Panasonic that I absolutely loved. These Koss were meant to be a replacement after I wore the others into the ground. I chose the Koss because of the great reviews (from both users and headphone review sites) and because they seemed similar to my Panasonics. The Panasonics used a single piece of molded plastic for the ear clip and the part that held the actual headphone. These Koss headphones, however, have a bulky, pivoting ear clip. I could never get these to fit comfortably or securely - one shake of my head (even just to say "no" to someone) and they would fall off. I tried all sorts of adjustments until I finally brought out the pliers and bent the clip. I considered super-gluing the clip so it wouldn't pivot loose anymore. Finally I just bought a pair of wrap-behind Sennheisers.

Before I start writing my review, I'd like to clarify that not these headphones not necessaily have the built-on volume control, as some pictures show. I guess it dependes on the seller. The mine did not have it, it would have been nice, but I can live without it.



Regarding the sound, you cant go wrong with these KOSS, I dont think that there is better sound in other set on this price range. If you are an audiophile like me, you will love these, because of its well balanced frequencies. the bass is clear and loud enough for rock music. If you are looking extra boom bass for electronic music, I'm not so sure about this. But the Highs are the best of it: Super clear, crisp. It just takes to hear an acoustic guitar on it to fall in love.



So, for 15 USD, its sound is incredibly good. About the looks, it isn a big concern to me, however, i find these stylish ang gool looking. About the comfort, I've been using them for like two hours without even notice I am wearing them.

I have bought 4 running headphones ranging in price from $10 to $30 and this by far, is the best quality for the best price. It is comfortable, the cord is not too long and the sound is almost as good as my $100 Sony studio headphones. You can't find a better quality anywhere close in price.

I was quite pleased to find an alternative to full-sized headphones (which give me headaches over time) and ear buds (which are too close to the inner ear and uncomfortable for me). I've had these for two years now and use them practically every night for 1-2 hours. Sound quality is wonderful, and the only problem I had was the plastic ear clip snapping loose once or twice on the left earpiece. It easily went back into place, though, and considering how many hours I've used these earpieces, it is amazing that this was the worst that has happened.



I absolutely love them and plan to order another pair soon to have just in case I wear my current pair out!

 "PortaPro great for the money with some minor flaws" 2009-11-30

I just bought the PortaPros a little while ago and I have to say that I really do love these headphones. They are some of the best sounding headphones I have heard rivaling my Bose Over-Ear's. Some problems some folks might have with these headphones are portability, sound leak and style. Although these roll up into a ball for better portability, if you are student like me who has to stuff them in their backpack before class it becomes a problem unless you buy a case like I did, in my case it was a little sandwich box which did the trick. In terms of sound leak, they do leak sound a lot which caused concern at first and still does, however I have found that I can turn up the volume loud enough to hear very well and low enough so others can't hear. Other than that I love these headphones and for $30 and a lifetime warranty I would suggest them to anyone.

Let me start by saying that if you're still using a pair of cheap earbuds to listen to your music, you should seriously consider upgrading to the Koss PortaPro Headphones. For the price they are an incredible value. The sound quality is very good. Details that I had to strain my ears to hear in other headphones are nice and clear. I can even hear some subtleties that I wasn't able to notice before. These headphones are capable of producing great 3D sound and very impressive bass especially considering their size. You'll immediately notice how much information gets lost when you listen to music with the earbuds that they include with your MP3 player.



They're very lightweight yet durable, so I feel comfortable folding them up to take on the road in the carry case. The PortaPros feel good, but for me they sound best when I raise them a bit which makes their presence more noticeable after extended use. I've heard it's possible to get long hair caught in the band when adjusting the headphones (I wouldn't know since my hair is very short). However, I let my mom and sister try them out and neither experienced this problem. Even though the comfort will differ from person to person, I don't think most people will have any problems wearing them. Also, while the design hasn't changed since the 80s, you won't look silly wearing them. It's a retro look but an appealing one that isn't embarrassing.



If the great sound isn't enough to convince you, the lifetime warranty should be. If the headphones break or wear out during normal use, Koss will either repair them or send you a new pair for just the price of shipping. I haven't tested many headphones that compete in this price/quality range, but to me the warranty alone gives these a nice advantage. Bottom line: You won't regret buying these headphones.

these are the best headphones i've ever owned in my life. I'm thinking of starting a new religion based upon them where i would go door to door handing out pamphlets explaining the awesomeness of these headphones.



The first thing you will notice when you open up the package, is how awesome they look. you will instantly want to start daydreaming about how cool you will look while wearing them, but don't be distracted, there's a lot more to them than just looks.



They fold up and have a little carrying case, but I don't know why you would ever want to put them away since you'll want to wear them 24/7.



There are 3 tension settings on the ears for light, medium or firm. This can be adjusted with little switches on each ear. i usually like them on light, but sometimes i just need to feel closer to them so i can let them know i really love them, so i switch it to medium or firm.



The sound quality and range is so fantastic that i can fully celebrate my entire catalog of michael bolton albums with such clarity and tone range that its like he is singing directly into my ear.



I'm going to order a second pair soon to see if they will mate so that i might have even more joy in my life.



So open your minds and hearts to your true lord and savior, the Koss PortaPro Headphones and start upon your path to audio salvation.
