It must be the style of the soft plastic on the actual buds that go in the ear that works so well to keep out surrounding noise. These are great for that! The sound is excellent for earbuds.
The packaging sucks because it has protect during shipping. I wish someone would invent another safe packaging system. It took forever to get into it!

Not to get too long winded, I bought as an inexpensive set of headphones for my ipod. Pretty decent reviews. Received the headphones and was satisfied with the sound. HOWEVER, every time I touched the jack I got a terribly static like sound. Definitely wasn't going to work. I don't recommend due to the jack issue. Maybe a fluke but nonetheless...

I have own many different brands of earphones, earbuds, etc. The CX300 are the best that I have found in all aspects. They sound good, look good, well made. The wire is silicon as well as the in-ear seals. This is important if you have the skin oil that I do that reacts with other kinds of insulation. After a while I find the wires on my earphones stiff and hard. The screen the use for protecting the driver is durrable too. I got mine at Sears on a closeout and paid more than Amazon quotes, and still one of the best buys ever. I use them for audiobooks, and find if I get into a book that is boring, I can listen to music with all the lows and highs.

I had a pair of CX300-B that I wore out (wire connection short) after heavy use at the gym. Bought a different brand highly rated. I wore those out too. Saw the current price on the CX300 which has dropped dramatically and got them. I forgot how much better they sounded than the other brand. The music is much more alive, the bass is great. A great buy!
